Dave Gleeson & A Long Way To The Top Adelaide is a HIT!
“A Sweat Soaked Love letter to Aussie Rock!”
From the moment LONG WAY TO THE TOP hit the stage, it was clear we were in for a high-octane ride through the heart of Australian rock history. Frontman Dave Gleeson delivered exactly what you’d expect from a show built on the nation’s most iconic songs – raw energy, big hooks, and a crowd ready to sing every word.
Backed by a razor-sharp band and energetic vocalists, the show tore through classic favourites of Aussie rock. From the punch of AC/DC to the anthemic intensity of Cold Chisel, the setlist felt like a jukebox of the songs that shaped generations. The Fantail open-air stadium quickly turned into a Time Machine, audiences were transported back, happily reliving youth, and middle age in the best possible way. And judging by the reaction, we’re all still rocking.
The band was tight, driving each song forward with a throbbing bass and pulsating rhythm section that kept the energy soaring. Gleeson commanded the stage with the ease of a veteran showman, encouraging the crowd to sing louder, clap harder and get closer to the stage, which many did, with plenty of fans dancing in front of the stage by the halfway mark.
What elevated the performance even further were the strong backing vocals. Their harmonies and stage presence added sparkle and punch, the perfect counterbalance to Gleeson’s gritty delivery.
Above all, Long Way To The Top is simply fun. Energetic, loud, and proudly Australian, the show celebrates the songs that defined pubs, parties, and road trips for decades. During “20 songs in 60 minutes” we weren’t worrying about anything else, we were singing and shouting along to the soundtrack we knew instinctively.
And if the crowd’s smiling faces and ringing ears were anything to go by, Australian rock isn’t just history.
It’s alive, loud, and still kicking.
