MSFEST 2011 FIRST LINE UP ANNOUNCEMENT..ITS GOING TO BE HUGE
The festival phenomenon that is msfest is gearing up to rock the isle again. Tasmania’s biggest one day music festival is set to return to Inveresk Park this February with a line up so big it will redefine “bang for buck”. msfest 2011 will host over 40 acts across four massive stages including the Introduction of the Redbull Roller Disco.
Literally growing too big for its boots and bursting at the seams in the traditional site, organisers have pushed back boundary fences, doubling in size to accommodate two additional stages and a release of 1000 extra tickets.
It’s is hard to think of a modern Australian rock band that is as well established as Gyroscope. Gyroscope is here for the long haul and isn’t planning on fading away. The no-fuss attitude of the band has won them a legion of fans, and their quiet ‘battler’ work ethic has solidified them as part of our countries musical identity.
When DEAD LETTER CIRCUS blasted onto Australian airwaves in 2007, their bombastic yet nuanced take on alternative rock left most observers struggling to process what they were hearing. It was epic, it oozed confidence, it was intense and open all at once. It was the debut of a sound so fresh and unique that it was hard to classify. Dead Letter Circus blend modern rock tones, delirious delay soaked guitars and all encompassing melodies one moment to psychotic head thrashing indulgence the next. Their music is a guns out, no holds barred extravaganza from four twisted ringmasters of alternative rock.
BRITISH INDIA have emerged from the rawer end of the indie-pop spectrum. From their first appearance on the Melbourne live scene, critical interest has swept up over the band. Specialising in melodies that defined the best parts of 60's rock and Britpop, this Melbourne four-piece have played over 300 shows and have smashed their way through several sell-out tours to become a festival favourite.
Bringing in a fresh, edgy, hip hop voice to the stage, singer/songwriter, label manager, and The Herd band member, URTHBOY to the stage. A veteran to the Hip Hop scene, Tim (aks URTHBOY) has been a recognised name in the industry for years. In addition to solo material, Urthboy is one of the main songwriters in The Herd, whose four albums have seen them build a huge fan base in Australia. It is however, in solo mode that Urthboy is allowed to shine and his third solo album,Spitshine dropped to great acclaim (read below) and two hugely successful and, in 201,0 embarking on his first European tour, playing some of the biggest hip hop festivals in the world (Splash, Germany and Open-Air Festival, Switzerland) as well as clubs shows in Germany, Denmark and England.
West Sydney Duo HORROR SHOW started recording music at age 19 and have quickly solidified their position in the “bands to watch” list with the release of two hit albums. We’ll be proud to say, “We knew them when”…
