Dead Letter Circus

Dead Letter Circus

Dead Letter Circus are unlike any rock band to emerge from Australia.

Watching someone on their first listen to Brisbane alternative breakthroughs Dead Letter Circus searching to come up with a neat description is fascinating viewingŠ ³It¹s kind of likeŠ no wait, it¹s more of aŠ Wow, I have no idea what it is, but it¹s differentв Part of the beauty of the soaring, sing-a-long choruses, chiming atmospherics and delay soaked tones of Dead Letter Circus is their escape from easy classification via labels or scenes. But with a #2 record on debut, the message is clear - it¹s music that resonates.

What¹s that, you want the recipe though? Well, take quality musicianship, melt melodies that soar over modern rock tones, then whip audiences across the land into a frenzy with an unrelenting touring schedule. Marinate in very strong independent EP & single sales, a heaving army of passionate supporters won from festival battles and airwave solicitation, and bring to the boil with incendiary Big Day Out & Come Together performances on full heat. Serve hot and compare result to Muse, U2 and Mars Volta, but be aware that Dead Letter Circus is the rarest of flavours, brilliant but ultimately indescribable, best tasted for yourself.

In a whirlwind 2 years, Dead Letter Circus have ascended to the forefront of alternative rock, their fresh take on good rock songs landing powerhouse Australian booking agent New World Artists. Dead Letter Circus have struck a chord locally and abroad with their self-titled EP and Next in Line/Reaction double A side single, signed a worldwide publishing deal with Universal, signed with monster agency CAA for North America, showcased for several US major labels, and continued to peddle their wares to all parts of the country. And while they may not fit into the constraints of a tidy town genre, there is a certainty amongst the creative confusionŠ just one spoonful of Dead Letter Circus will leave you hungry for moreŠ The much anticipated debut album This is the Warning hit #2 on the national ARIA charts, with singles Big added to Triple J radio and One Step to all major commercial and alternative stations. With the Dead Letter Circus national album launch tour sold out, the band¹s first video getting airplay, and the track One Step starting to cross over with a sensational high impact video, 2010 will continue to create new milestones for the hottest rock band in Australia.

Next Australian tour is rumoured to be in August. New single Reaction due soon.

US DEAL WITH SUMMERIAN May 9

Brisbane’s alternative rock outfit Dead Letter Circus have signed a deal with notable American punk/metal label Sumerian to release their album This Is The Warning.

Signed to Warner in Australia, the band – often compared to the likes of Karnivool and The Butterfly Effect – managed to debut at #2 on the ARIA album charts last May. The record, produced by Forrester Savell (Karnivool, Calling All Cars, Dukes Of Windsor), stayed in the top 50 for three weeks.

Today manager Jim McKinnon told Daily SPA, “We’re absolutely thrilled to announce Dead Letter Circus have signed to Sumerian Records in the USA. The team at Sumerian are hugely passionate about the band and the potential, and we’re really excited to be working with them on introducing Dead Letter Circus to the US.”

The Sumerian roster currently includes Stick To Your Guns, Asking Alexandria and I The Breather amongst others.

The deal came about after the band and their management company Teamtrick had been working on breaking into the American market for a “little while”. The band showcased to a number of labels and played Los Angeles’ Musexpo, which led to this offer from Sumerian. Teamtrick said that despite clocking up frequent flyer points, American partnerships that could help with the ground work were essential to sealing the deal.

The label’s founder Ash Avildsen released a statement that heaped lavish praise on the four-piece. “I am beyond honored to work with such an incredible group of songwriters and musical visionaries. There is a new decade of rock upon us and Dead Letter Circus is the future.”

The album will be released in North America 26 July with the band set to be touring the US throughout the month with Animals As Leaders.
